Amano is an experienced NMH supplier operating in the DSA (Disabled Students Allowance) sector for over ten years and is currently one of the top 4 NMH providers to the Student Loans Company (SLC) with c.400 support workers across the UK, supporting thousands of students across England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland at more than 170 Higher Education Providers.
Amano support is personalised to each individual student with a focus on student experience by implementing strategies which support students to remain on their course and achieve their best possible outcome. Our large-scale and flexible approach ensures student choice for session time (including evening and weekends), diversity of consultant and mode of support (i.e. onsite, remote or hybrid sessions) to suit each student’s needs whilst providing an approachable and personalised support experience. We have a dedicated recruitment team enabling continuous support worker enrolment throughout the year, ensuring reliable local and diverse coverage across the UK.
Knowledge:
Amano has access to a unique knowledge base through its employed staff across the eQS group, not just in NMH but in all aspects of disabled student support from diagnostic and needs assessment to assistive technology provision.
Our robust recruitment processes ensure that all support workers have the required qualifications and/or professional membership requirements and enhanced DBS checks, in addition to professional experience at providing one-to-one support.
A team of support coordinators manage, support and quality assure our 400 support workers and their student caseloads which helps promote individual student progression against their personalise objectives and minimises student safeguarding incidents.
Our large team ensures student referrals are dealt with within 24 hours, with most students matched to a Support Worker the same day. Our matching carefully considers disability, preferences and course requirements when assigning Support Workers, and we provide support worker profiles in advance to reduce student anxiety.
Amano delivers a monthly CPD programme to give our support workers and partner HEIs the opportunity to learn, refresh and increase their knowledge.
Technology:
ADA – The Amano integrated digital student database was developed in-house specifically to support the NMH/DSA process, enabling joined up support for the student by delivering information seamlessly to support co-ordinators, support workers and HEI disability teams ensuring all gain a simple holistic view of a student’s NMH journey, with the ability to drill into individual support sessions to view information on session content, missed sessions and student notes.
· MyAmano is the mobile app designed to help keep the student engaged with their support. MyAmano offers easy access to all learning support information in one handy place:
o Timesheets awaiting signature
o Next session reminders with ability to re-book
o Quick overview of hours used/left
o DSA documents such as DSA2 & NAR
· Amano electronic timesheeting and e-invoicing system enables efficient support and reduces student and consultant administration burdens as all sessions are approved and signed electronically by the student following the support session and no paper timesheets are required.
· Amano consultant portal is a browser-based password-protected login for all support consultants:
o Contains a knowledge base of all Amano policies, risk assessment templates and CPD (Continuing Professional Development) presentations and can be accessed by all employed staff and support workers.
o Allows support workers to enter times and session details on timesheets and submit to the student for e-signature before they are automatically sent on to the student’s funding body.
o Enables support consultants to complete Individual Support Plans with students digitally.
· Amano HEI portal enables the Universities access via a browser-based portal login to view support for individual students who have provided consent to share with Amano and track used and remaining hours, last session dates and missed sessions, as well student progression.
